How to Manipulate Grandpa - About Us

Our Mission

At How to Manipulate Grandpa, we are on a mission to help other kids live their best lives by loving and manipulating their grandpas. We also hope they discover the joy of reading. We believe that reading with your family is not only a source of entertainment but also a way to learn, grow, and connect with each other.

Our Story

Founded in November of 2021 with the birth of the family's first granddaughter, How to Manipulate Grandpa is a website dedicated to helping other kids learn how to and enjoy the benefits of manipulating the weakest link in the grandparent ecosystem - grandpa. We also help grandpas understand when they are being manipulated - there is no risk in doing this as grandpas truly don't care and rather enjoy being manipulated by their grandkids. Our growing team of passionate writers, manipulators, and book lovers work tirelessly to bring you the latest news, reviews, and recommendations on how to manipulate grandpa and live your best life.

Our Team

At How to Manipulate Grandpa, we have a team of exceptionally bright, cute, funny, and witty writers, editors, and designers who are passionate about working alone or together to get grandpa to do what they want, when they want it, and how they want it. We work together to create high-quality content that inspires and informs other grandkids so that they too can live their best lives.

The Switcheroo

Only the Perfect Blueberries

Only the Perfect Blueberries

Grandpa: It's time for hot chocolate.

Eleanor: I found the hot chocolate.

Grandpa:  Hmmmm. Let me open that. Don't tell Grandma or your mom.

Granddaughter and grandson love blueberries and will eat them by the hand full, except those that are deformed or have too much of the stem they get separated from the others. Grandpa gets those.

Eleanor asked if she could have an M&M. Lunch was almost ready so I told her she could have "One red one." When I looked at what she had grabbed, I said to her, "I said one red one." She responded, "There is only one red one."

When mom is taking photos make sure they are cute and adorable and that she sends them to grandpa. Give him that look next time you see him and you're in the money. Also, he'll use it to annoy all his friends and co-workers as he brags about you.

Ready to start living the good life? Have your parents or grandmother buy the book for you. Just be sure you keep it away from grandpa so he doesn't grow wise and become less of a target. Highly unlikely, but why chance it.

When you're having fun with grandma always take a couple of moments to do a video call with grandpa if he's not with you.  He may try to talk to you and you just want to show off, but do it anyway as it makes him feel better about not being with you and increases the odds he'll bring you something to like 2000%.

Leave Little Reminders

A great tactic is to leave a little reminder at Grandpa's house. It makes him miss you even more.

Leaving a little reminder at Grandpa and Grandma's house is a great tactic. When he sees it or uses it he will miss you sooo much and start thinking about how he'll spoil you the next time you are together. Band-Aids are a really good one as he hates that you might get hurt and he tends to hurt himself doing yardwork or chores, so this one "sticks" with him.

That's Not Me.

When our illustrator, Nikki Boetger provided the character drawing of Eleanor she immediately said, "That's me." With that energy, I approved the illustration on the cover of the book. When Eleanor saw the cover, she immediately said, "That's not me." My heart sunk. "I don't have a crown." So that we are not falsely-advertising, she now has a crown. Wait, was grandpa just manipulated? Again?
